If you know what that title means... then you've ever been a part one of NYC's best late night experiences, from the looong lines, to the rowdy drunkards, to the no nonsense manager... and most importantly THE KATI ROLLS!!!... there's no need for introduction here(they have their own wiki page), its just a standard meet up and fast feast spot in the city... My personal favorite is the paneer unda (egg) roll, though my carnivorous counterparts typically grab 2 (or 3) chicken unda rolls. (here's the menu)

1. It's less than 15 minutes from midtown manhattan via the path train
2. the main strip (washington st.) is packed with bars/restaurants, with no drama getting in, its got an awesome Austin, Tx vibe too it!
3. its CHEAP (avg drink is 5 bucks) w/TONS of young people....

So the standard get togethers typically surround a birthday party, going away, or homecoming, etc, etc... thus tonight we're getting together at Spotlight Live (map) in midtown , basically a super ritzy karaoke spot... no you wont see me on stage, but def a nice way change up a saturday night...

You know the scene: standing in the middle of a bar/club and the sound goes from a hard hitting 50 cent joint and screeches to a slow crawling R&B tune, or even worse elevates to a super fast techno song that immediately deserts the dance floor... blame the DJ.

Some party guys forget to pay close attention to their selection of a DJ when they setup their events, its the number 1 factor, behind maybe the venue, even then a solid DJ can turn around even a mediocre spot.

It's SO important for a DJ to be able to catch the "vibe" of the crowd and feed to what they are wanting... after all, he's there for them, NOT himself, this isnt a concert, where the crowd will cheer at anything you perform because you're you. Sorry guys, you're there to entertain the masses with what they want... so even when you're actively ignoring that obnoxious girl who keeps requesting shakira, its important to (at some point) appease her by dropping it, if its not immediately, but at some point, cause she WILL notice!

My personal pick for top dj's: dj kunal m, if you've ever been to one of my parties, you know why. he def understands the art of appeasing the crowd, and i've been to enough parties to know, its not easy!

alright, so ill start with a "sure thing" as far as places we go in NYC, its got a good vibe, hip hop, which is a must (though the dj can be a little off sometimes), and the key ingredients... no cover AND no trouble getting in (even for 5 guys)... yes if you haven't guessed it by now its PS450 (map), you will definitely find us here when we were too ambitious in our planning and tried something EXTRA fancy (i.e. anything in the meatpacking district) and got denied, ill gladly call ps the ultimate plan B for any friday or saturday night...
